Focal point

It’s another slightly geeky one this week. I want everyone to take a picture where the main focal point of the picture is not actually in focus. Some other part of the picture will be in focus instead. The effect should be that the picture is confusing to the viewer, and attracts their attention while they try to understand it. Let’s put this theory to the test.

  • With a DSLR, switch your lens to manual focus mode, and focus by twisting the ring.
  • With a smartphone camera, touch the area of the screen you want to focus on
  • With a compact camera, you might struggle if there isn’t provision for manual focus. Try to fool the autofocus and see if you can get it to focus on the background rather than the focal point :)

Please send your entries in by noon on Tuesday 17th June. Good luck!
