Photo Challenge

Abstract gradient

Thanks Kirsty for overseeing the challenge and results over the last week!

This week, the challenge is more abstract, and has more to do with the graphical elements of the photo rather than the emotions contained within the subject. I want everyone to take an abstract picture of a gradient between light tones and dark tones.

There’s enormous flexibility here for playing with colour, shape and texture – so long as you include a continuous gradation from light to dark.

If you’re shooting outdoors, make use of the low sun in the evening, shining across your chosen gradient. If you’re shooting indoors, use off-camera flash or a torch to direct your light carefully. You could use a curved surface to help show the gradient.

Please send your entries in by noon on Tuesday 10th June. Have fun!

Challenge Admin, I enjoy taking photos mostly of landscapes and architecture - but I will try anything! I mostly shoot film and I spend a lot of time in my darkroom trying to get the perfect print. I'm a sysadmin for a living and I also enjoy cycling and music technology.
