Photo Challenge

Expectation – Results

This one must have been hard, since we only had six entries from our stalwarts – not including myself in that accolade because I’ve been terrible recently! Great work from everyone.

Challenge Admin, I enjoy taking photos mostly of landscapes and architecture - but I will try anything! I mostly shoot film and I spend a lot of time in my darkroom trying to get the perfect print. I'm a sysadmin for a living and I also enjoy cycling and music technology.

  2. It seems the expectation of christmas was hard to avoid this week, only 5 entries but excellent they are. Jonathan’s cat stands out, along with jen’s child with satan, sorry Santa. The shot sums up the magic of christmas, and finally Kirsty I hope there is chocolate behind that door, great idea.

  3. Where did everyone go?

Kirsty I love your Raymond Briggs Snowman Advent calendar and Jonathan how do you get your cat to pose mine does nothing but eat and sleep. Pascale I would love to see snow just once so I can relate to your snowflake expectation. Now Tomm Pouce my crazy
Welshman was convinced that your photo was of a vending machine. Please tell me he was wrong as I thought it was a house call button. Ally if you left something like that laying around in this house it would have been opened as soon as you turned your back.

    Sincerely Yours

  4. Oh Jonathan – I just love your picture, it really stood out for me this week. However, Jen yours I think best fits the challenge for me as I want to really imagine what happened next.

Well done everyone else as it was a difficult week.

I’m kicking myself as I struggled with what to take and then Tuesday morning realised I could have gone to see the Coca Cola lorry in Oxford the night before :(

I really am going to knock myself into gear this week.

  5. Heh, the cat wasn’t posing. The cat was never supposed to be in the picture – I was just testing the focus and exposure before shaking up the snow globe and she jumped up and started sniffing it. I was annoyed and shooed her away and carried on with my shot. Later, looking at the pictures on my PC, I just liked the picture with the cat in the best. So that’s careful planning: nil, cats: 1.

Everyone’s photo this week illustrates the point differently. I like Tomm’s “film noir” interpretation but for me the one that really captures the excitement is Jen’s moment of childhood wonder.

  6. three stand out this week, Jonathan’s cat and a snowball, it’s a great catch! Jen’s the closest to the theme, it just says ‘Oooooooooh, I’ll get candy from Santa!!!!’ And Pascale’s composition is interesting, but it probably would have worked better ig the snowflakes had been in direct sunlight.

Mine’s me going for a doorbell somewhere in the neighbourhood. I’m not so sure about the framing, it’s too centered, and I might have gotten something more interesting with a different angle or framing.
