Pop! – Results

Evening folks, and sorry for the late posting today. It’s been “one of those days” at work! We’ve had a fantastic seventeen entries this week, including début entries from Lara and Dave. Welcome! Please do feel free to introduce yourselves on the meet & greet page.

As the variety of entries is so wide this week, I think we’re going to have a lot of comments! :)

Challenge Admin, I enjoy taking photos mostly of landscapes and architecture - but I will try anything! I mostly shoot film and I spend a lot of time in my darkroom trying to get the perfect print. I'm a sysadmin for a living and I also enjoy cycling and music technology.

  1. Omg i just made the cut :D Thanks for including me Jonathan! I realy like yours and Tomm’s.

  2. Hi
Lots of great entries. I think kirsty photo is the best

  3. Great ones again this week and if I have to pick three favourites: Kirsty, Cedric and Jonathan. Red’s popular this week! Welcome to the new members :-)

  4. Thanks for the welcome… I tried to post on Meet & Greet but can’t find a reply box or see anything after Laura in August????
Otherwise… A great set of pics with a wide range of interpretations.Difficult to pick any favourites but Cedric’s choice of the blue sky makes it stand out. Kirsty’s really POPs out from the page. The simplicity of Roberts and the sheer BL*&*dy mindlessness of Tomm in his masking of the subject :)
Looking forward to the next one … I think :)

  5. Sorry Dave, you’re right. I think the website software automatically closes comments on posts after a couple of months and I’m not sure how to re-open them. I’ll have a think :)

  6. Like Tomm, I also spotted that most people chose red as their pop polour. I think my favourites are Maryah and Kirsty for elegant use of colour and composition. I also like Tomm and Paul’s entries, because I like wide-angle lenses and big machines :D

I wish I hadn’t made a colour pop of red car light trails. The trails don’t have hard edges and are painstakingly enraging to paint in. It would have been easier to paint in a solid object. Oh well, I’ll know for next time :)

  7. I agree, Kirsty’s is particularly good! The eye is framed really nicely with all those swooping curves. I like Dave’s too, it’s a really interesting shape to have picked out. I also like James’ – it teases you with neither being b&w nor colour, it’s kind of somewhere in between. The shark in Kate’s is kind of a ghost, I like the subtelty whilst still being a strong focus.

  8. Choosing a favorite is tricky this week again. I would say Robert’s because it has some kind of pattern and rythm in the red. I didn’t think about that, I love that idea.

  9. Thank you soo much for the comments :’) Again there’s a lot of red, but this week’s challenge has been really strong! my favourites are Paul’s and Jess’ photos for sheer simplicity and poppyness :D also loving the new site :)

  10. Well done Kirsty, your photo is also my favourite this week. Sorry for not entering time keeps getting away from me :( Must try harder!
