Photo Challenge Awards – Nominate a photo

Inspired by the Oscars, the Brits and various other award ceremonies going on at the moment, this week we are beginning the Photo Challenge Awards!

favorites

The process starts now – we have selected several categories for the awards. We need your nominations for photos to win each category. The rules are simple: you can nominate any photo that has ever been submitted to the Photo Challenge. You can’t nominate any of your own photos.

Best overall picture The picture you think is the best ever published on the Photo Challenge
Most bizarre picture The most bizarre entry you have seen on the Photo Challenge
Most wilful misinterpretation The entry that most twists the intention of that week’s challenge :)
Best animal picture The best animal picture ever published on the Photo Challenge
Best lighting The most skilful use of light in a photo
Best technique The best use of advanced technique in taking or editing a photo
Best photographic location The most beautiful location featured in a photo

So please go ahead and browse our archives – all the way back to 2009. Any picture that has ever been published in the Photo Challenge can be nominated for an award.

Send your nominations in as comments on this post. Next week I will publish the nominations and everyone can vote for the winners in each category! Any questions, just leave a comment :)

Challenge Admin, I enjoy taking photos mostly of landscapes and architecture - but I will try anything! I mostly shoot film and I spend a lot of time in my darkroom trying to get the perfect print. I'm a sysadmin for a living and I also enjoy cycling and music technology.

  1. I ought first to present my abject apologies, Jonathan, for not having taken part in the Challenge for some considerable time and I’m conscious of the fact that many of my comments on here have included the word sorry or one or more of its synonyms for that very reason! I think the new look website is excellent, as is the idea for the Challenge Awards and I’m going to try and submit some nominations. I think points should be deducted for anyone thanking their mother / father / wife / girlfriend / husband / boyfriend / dog at the presentation ceremony and, of course, for crying! Best wishes and thanks for all your hard work.

  2. Wow. That took a while! Can I nominate more than one for a category? If not, I’ll take the first choice for each.

These were just a few – so many really good photos and lots of challenges I would love the chance to have a go at :)

  10. Well as excited as I was to go thru all the archives, the additional week still wasn’t enough time for me (little one is sick so that isn’t helping matters). So I decided i would only nominate among the challenges that have passed while I’ve been following the site (a little under a year). I know there are incredible photos from before this and I hope to get thru all the archives soon, regardless of the ‘Awards.’ :-)
