Sorry the Challenge is a little bit later than usual today. I spent most of my working day at Langford vet school in deep, dark Somerset, and there wasn’t a whole lot of internet down there.
Well done to our entrants this week – good work all round, lots of interpretations on the theme, and a warm welcome to Jairus and Dave who have entered for the first time.
As the entries are so varied, can I encourage everyone to say a few words about their picture in the comments?
- Lisa Seaberg
- Annie Mak
- Kate
- Lee Griffiths
- Jairus Monreal
- Paul Seward
- Katey Bell
- Cedric Simon
- Dave Andersen
- Colin
- Jonathan Gazeley
- Jessica Andersen
- Kirsty Garland
We also received an entry from Gladys Laguardia, but since it was after the deadline we’ve linked to it rather than including it with the other entries.

Mine is like an endless cycle coz, y’know… circles
This week I liked Jairus’s because it’s really unique and well composed, and Annie’s because it’s based on an old fashioned tricycle (I think?) and I like rustic looking things

My favourites this week are Lisa & Jairus.

moon, lots of associations with cycles. I wanted to have an off centre focus again, like the challenge a few weeks ago. unfortunatley the moon was not in a good place so this was taken at the last minute but I’m pretty proud of it. I like the colour of the sky.
I like Lee Griffiths’ picture, something about a dead insect.
Katey’s made me smile because it’s a familiar toy.
David’s repelled me and fascinated me, so a good reaction I think.

Katey’s has fascinated me this week!

This week I like Lisa’s, Jessica’s and Katey’s best of all. They are all very different takes on the theme, and all well executed.
My picture is of a steam engine, which uses a steam cycle to convert heat to forward motion. I took the picture at Bristol harbour festival by walking along with the dockside train to catch the cylinder sharply and blur the moving wheels. I’m quite pleased with the result.

I really love the color and sense of motion in Katey’s.

My picture is quite common here in Japan. It’s a bicycle parking near my train station.
We can just see half of it, and it always astound me how many bikes can be parked in such a way ^^
I should have used a wider lense, 35mm was not enought, I realized when shooting.
My prefered picture this week is Lisa’s because the depth of field let us see clearly all the bike and the wall.
The colors are also very nice, and the black/dark blue wall gives a nice contrast.

Wow, great pics everyone. I would have to say that Lee’s photo is my favorite. It creeps me out in a good sorta way.

Wow! Such a variety of interpretations. How did I manage to land in with such a creative bunch of people?
Mine is of a bicycle which has been recycled into a tricycle/wagon of sorts.
I am curious about Dave’s photo and how he shot it – I am not even certain what it is.
I love the web Jairus managed to capture – it looks like spun silver.

Hmm, I like them all lol. I love Jonathan’s (just a beautiful shot, I like that it has motion, too) and Cedric’s (I’ve never seen that many ‘cycles’ in one place).
Jairus and Lee both took nice shots and Paul’s just pops as if it’s 3D.
And lastly, I really like the creativity from Katey, Dave, and Kristy.
My picture is of a crucial part of the life cycle of a flower~pollination via a fly. (for anyone who didn’t see my comment prior to the results posting)
Gladys’ was a nice shot as well~

I like them all, different interpretation, ideas and creativity.
Katey and Lisa’s photo caught my eyes (just fascinating)

So… my picture. I wasn’t content with just taking a photograph of a bicycle, mainly because I didn’t have easy access to one!
I started to think about different types of ‘cycles’ and was playing around with my Macro lens when I snapped my submission. I thought that it represented the end of the ‘life cycle’, but in some ways also the beginning of it too. It’s body goes on to feed the spider, and ultimately supply the earth with nutrients etc… etc…
Someone must have spiked my tea with marijuana or something as that sounds stupidly deep!! lol I hope it makes sense!

Brings a new meaning to the word “teapot”!
