Photo Challenge

Trees

This week it’s a simpler theme rather than a challenge.

Take a picture of trees, woodland, forest or jungle. Most of our members seem to live in towns and cities in the UK so perhaps the Amazon Rainforest is a bit much to hope for, but there’s a lot of interesting pictures that you can make out of a tree. A quick look at Google confirms this!

Be adventurous, try different angles. Try wide angles, including the sky. Look at small details and explore the texture of bark.

I’ll be away next Tuesday so I’ll leave you in Paul’s capable hands to publish the results of this Challenge and set the next one. Please send in your tree pictures to the usual place by noon on Tuesday 22nd May.

Challenge Admin, I enjoy taking photos mostly of landscapes and architecture - but I will try anything! I mostly shoot film and I spend a lot of time in my darkroom trying to get the perfect print. I'm a sysadmin for a living and I also enjoy cycling and music technology.

  1. Damn you!!! That tree I blogger about is doing my head in and now you set a challenge about trees!!! Lol

  2. That wasn’t consciously on my mind, but maybe it slipped into my subconscious ;)

  3. Hi! I found this site while browsing through photography competitions and thought – hey, this is a brilliant idea! I wanted a purpose for my photos, instead of sitting there all lonely on my SD card. I might join the photo challenge every week now!

  4. Oh no, spelling mistake, what a bad first impression..
    *brilliant

  5. Welcome Katie. I look forward to seeing your entries!

  6. Really wish I’d got a weather sealed body… to wet to be wandering around with my camera :(

  7. Weather sealed 35mm bodies are cheaper ;)

  8. Hi @ all. I have found a few trees. … shot on the Island RĂ¼gen/Germany.

  9. Lee, Even if you had a weather sealed body, don’t trust it in anything more then light rain. I only just revived mine a couple of weekends ago involving putting it in a bag of rice to absorb moisture, using the hair dryer and finaly sticking it in the oven on a low setting, spending a very nervous day hoping it would start working again.

  10. True. I actually used my Canon Sure Shot A-1 underwater this afternoon. You could invest in a Nikonos if you want a proper waterproof camera!

  12. Marc, yeah I’ve read bad things about ‘weather sealing’. The fact Nikon don’t even provide a manufactures warranty that relates to weather sealing says it all. We just had that really crappy drizzly rain here the other day and I didn’t wanna risk it with my D5000.

  13. sorry for delay- illness, exams and rehearsals!!! here it is though :3 http://ifellfromthesky.lightbox.com/photo/8fxRPgZ
