The coin charity challenge

This week, your theme is the coin charity challenge, as suggested by Paul.

The theme of this challenge is charity, and the budget is a single coin of whatever denomination you prefer. (In the UK, that would give you a budget range of 1p to £2) So, give some money to a charity collector, buy something from a charity shop, sponsor someone on a fun run, buy a homeless person a sandwich – and take a photo of the item you bought or the person you donated to, or sponsored.

Entries in by noon on Tuesday 24th August, please. Good luck, and give generously!

  • Wow. This is such perfect timing. I have a charity thing planned for this week already, and I was already going to be taking photos. Yay.

The explanation for my picture, which is just a snapshot of my make-shift coffee table/desk:

I work for the National Trust, which is a registered charity. I found out about this challenge as I was writing personal thank you cards to volunteers who have donated 100s of hours worth of their time, often with me (they must be suckers for punishment) and are no longer able to continue volunteering.

I spent £2 on these pretty note-cards, which are a combination of National Trust charity ones, and ones from our local Hospice charity. In summary: Charity cards, to go to charitable people!

Here is a bit of a novelty – an entry from me! It’s early as we’re off oop north Monday and Tuesday for a footie match. I bought these little creatures from a charity shop to put into a geocache. For the picture, I used my new portable studio thingy with proper lights and everything (£19.99 at Maplins)!

This was a really interesting challenge! Helped me get back into my favourite style of photography…

  • Nigel, those photo “tents” are awesome. I bought Edmund one for Christmas, and he never uses it. Please tell him how fantastic they are so he actually gets his camera out once in a while! :D

Vid, I’ve received your entry and all is ready to go live tomorrow. But what’s your favourite style of photography? Anything under £2? ;)

As for myself, I haven’t entered for a couple of weeks now due to being insanely busy moving house. However, I will definitely, absolutely, 100% enter the Challenge to be publicised tomorrow. Hopefully then it will be business as usual once more :)

My favourite this week is Vid’s, too – fantastic colours! Edmund (if you’re watching), the portable photo “tent” is really very good if you enjoy doing still life indoors. It’s dead easy and quick to put up and doesn’t take up too much room, although the only place I’ve used mine so far is on the bed! You don’t have to use the back-cloth provided (grey one side, blue the other), and the only limitations on its use is your imagination. Furthermore, you don’t get mocked because you’re on your own! Go for it!
