Please welcome Kathy and Vidish this week who have joined us for the first time, on the theme of music.
The entries this week are great, so very well done to the nine ten people who sent a photo in. Sorry there’s nothing from me this week – I’m sort of in the middle of packing to move house at the moment

There’s a definite theme of black and white this week. I like it. Black and white is cool.
There are some unusual photos this week too, so I invite you all to explain your work if you think it would add to it
I like the range of subjects this week – particularly the run-down piano and the CD shelf. In terms of my entry, it’s a live shot of Pete Shoulder, who fronts a great band called the Union. They played the Sonisphere festival at Knebworth at the weekend, which I was shooting for http://www.thedailydust.co.uk – the Union, like Sonisphere as a whole, rocked!
Love all the photos, can’t pick a favourite – all so diverse – although I love the energy in Kathy’s!
I chose mine because I liked the way there were lots of reflections of my camera, which I thought added interest.
It’s good to see some new talent in the challenge. Welcome!
Great work everyone! Sorry I didn’t get anything in this week… not had a chance to pause and breathe let alone think of the challenge!
Cut’n'pasted from the email I sent you, since the blimmin’ comments don’t work for me :-
Ever wondered what the inside of a piano accordion looks like? Well now you know – bloody complicated, that’s what! This is the bass matrix of a 1930s 120-bass 3/5 voice Concert Grand made by Settimio Soprani, a scion of the great Soprani family of accordion builders, and maker of average-to-good accordions from the world famous accordion-making town of Castelfidardo in Italy. It doesn’t look very musical does it?
Jay, your comment didn’t get spammed this time! Maybe it doesn’t like it when you post links.
Kathy, Fraser and Dave are my favourites this week but the standard was pretty high over all, well done everyone.
I’m not sure if Jonathan was hinting at my photo with the “explain please!” – but it’s titled “sight-reading” if that’s any help.
Echoing others’ comments, great range of shots and all very good! The live music shots are very striking, and I like use of B&W by Kathy and Dave. Fraser’s desolate shot of the piano is intriguing. Vidish’s mysterious earphone shot is striking too.
As for my own, the CD stack, was a last-minute entry using wide-angle and perspective to make something out of the lines and angles of the shelves and the CD spines.
Some great photos this week, I do like Dave’s… is that the same Dave Musson from school? If so how the devil are you?
My photo was taken inside a derelict asylum I visited recently.
Hey Fraser – yes it’s me, the very same Dave! I’m very well thank you, living in the Midlands and working for Solihull Council’s press office. How are you? And where on earth did you find a derelict asylum??
Good turnout. Great quality
I really like Dave’s, the smoky background really catches my eye..
Well done everyone! One day I’ll get off my arse and start contributing again
Thank you for the welcome. There are some really great photos on here – paricularly liking pauls glasses and the pool of light, frasers piano in that light airy derelict room and also daves rock star.
Photo taken at a rock wedding, one of those lucky shutters shots that just caught a flash of light and pools on the floor – shot taken at a low angle with panasonic LX3
Sorry from me again for missing this and the last two or three – overtaken by events as usual! Some tremendous shots this week; I particularly like black and white, too. And welcome to the newcomers – looks like I’ll have to up my standard. I’ll do my level best this week!
