Photo Challenge

Documentary journalism

The title of this Challenge may sound a little scary, but don’t worry. You can interpret it as recording things that are happening.

Photographs are a relatively recent invention that have allowed people to record history in a different way, compared with the available technology in centuries past. At the touch of a button, you can capture a moment in time with your camera.

Your Challenge this week is to record some history with your camera. It doesn’t have to be a world-changing event, but it should be something that’s significant to you in some way. What might occur this week that influences your life?

The best way of capturing unexpected moments is to keep your camera with you at times when you might not otherwise carry it. For those who have a bulky camera that can’t be taken everywhere, it’s fine to use a phone camera. The most important point of this Challenge is about capturing events that are happening around you, and not necessarily worrying about megapixels, gigadoodles or kilowotsits.

When you send your photo in, please also say a few words about the event you have captured, so I can publish them together.

Please get your entries in by noon on Tuesday 8th June. Good luck!

Challenge Admin, I enjoy taking photos mostly of landscapes and architecture - but I will try anything! I mostly shoot film and I spend a lot of time in my darkroom trying to get the perfect print. I'm a sysadmin for a living and I also enjoy cycling and music technology.
