Well done to everyone who sent in an entry on the theme of What is it?. There were ten microscopic entries this week. It’s also really good to see some new faces, so welcome to Danielle and to Ben. We hope you will continue participating
So, what are these photos of?
Please comment on this post to guess what other people’s photos are. The only condition is that you are only allowed to make one guess on each entry. If your photo is guessed correctly, you have to admit defeat!
Anyone whose photo has not been guessed correctly by Tuesday 30th March may be considered victorious. Due to budgetary constraints, champagne is to be supplied by the victor(s)
If you haven’t yet submitted the zoomed-out version of your photo, please email it to me. I’ll publish the zoomed-out versions along with the answers to be revealed on the 30th.

I suppose I’m not allowed to guess, given that I have all the answers…
Andy: Kalimba keys
Julia: mold on a tree
Nigel: bank of a £10 note
Jonathan: slice of marble.
Danielle: hairbrush
Edmund: Jaycloth
Stuart:
Paul: fungus spores (myceium?? )
Ben: Spoon in honey
Wow, what fab pictures really compelling!
ok, here are my guesses…..
Andy – bushman’s “piano”
Nigel – bank note
Jonathan – marble
Danielle – hairbrush
Stuart – beard hair
Paul – pan scourer
Ian – a grille
Damn you Colin and Julia!
Don’t know if I’m allowed to guess, as I didn’t enter, but for what it’s worth:
Andy: Mbira
Julia: mold on an apple
Nigel: back of £10
Jonathan: marble.
Danielle: hairbrush
Edmund: kitchen paper
Stuart: hair
Paul: Scouring pad
Ben: spoon in treacle
Ian: ?
Great pictures as always guys!
Great theme and some excellent shots! Who do I have to admit defeat to? I wouldn’t have known Andy’s, the others: Julia – knot on a tree, Jonathan – section of marble worktop, Danielle – hairbrush, Ed – piece of kitchen roll, Stu – broom head, Paul – not a clue! Ben – spoon in syrup, Ian’s is a metal grille but I can’t think exactly what kind.
Hi Fraser. Course you can have a guess – on the condition you enter the new Challenge
Nigel – I think the procedure for admitting defeat is pretty informal. There are only three forms to fill in and you have to get it all signed off by a lawyer, priest, policeman or other community figure
OK, here goes then:
Andy – Thumb piano/Karimba
Julia – I’m going to go with a piece of rock
Nigel – £10 note
Jonatham – Something made of marble
Danielle – Hairbrush
Edmund – I think that’s a £10 note as well
Stu – A stiff bristled brush, like a scrubbing brush or broom
Paul – I think I’ll pass on that one
Ben – Spoon in a jar of honey (this is probably my favourite BTW, love the curves and the composition)
Ian – Potato masher?
Nice one people, good turnout this week, and a couple of headscratchers in there!
I’m torn between fungus spores and a pan scourer for Paul’s. Their individual shape suggests spores, but I’m not sure Paul would want to get that close to a mouldy piece of bread or poo.
I wondered whether Jonathan’s might be vegetable matter, but I think I’ll go along with the marble idea.
Great work, all!
