I don't mind what size the submissions come in - I manually resized all of the entries to 1024x768, except for Stu's which was already smaller than this. 1024x768 looks fine on my high-resolution desktop but is slightly too tall for my laptop unless I make the browser full-screen. The only ones that fit are Stu's slightly smaller image, and Nigel's "widescreen" book.

Don't even mention the netbook...

I could look into some automagic resizer thingy, but it sounds like a pain. I like the simplicity of batch-resizing the photos on my PC, uploading them and then letting Lightbox sort out the "click for bigger" business.

If people are happy with this week's 1024x768 sizing, then I'll leave it be. If other people reckon it's a tad too big, I'll try a smaller size next week.

I like the pix this week, especially the book - it made me want to go and photograph a very old book I have on my shelves.

Re the image sizes, I find them too small on my laptop, and completely swamped on my desktop, but then I run both at high resolutions. I wonder if it's worth finding a Java scripted gallery that will resize according to the viewport? Or maybe just nominate ideal and/or maximum dimensions for submissions?

What's your photo of, Stu? Looks like the plastic grille bit you get on a car between the windscreen and bonnet!

Nigel - thanks for your feedback on the picture viewing layout. The images were unusually slow to load today because of a problem at the Derbyshire data centre where my site is hosted. Should be OK again soon.

Looking at the images, I think they're slightly too big. They looked fine on my desktop PC, but on my laptop they don't quite fit on. Next week I'll make them a little smaller.

Good work everyone!

Well done, everybody! Good job I changed my mind - I was going to do exactly the same as Fabien (and there would have been a lot more wrinkles - maybe that's why I did change my mind)!! I like to see all the pictures together with the click for bigness feature, although it did take quite a long time for the large image to load, but maybe that's my setup. Anyway, thanks, Jonathan, for keeping us on our toes.
